Cathedral St. Alexander Nevski
"St. Alexander Nevski" cathedral is one of the most significant monuments in Sofia. It was built between 1882 and 1912, in honour of the Russian Tzar Alexander II, referred to as Tsar Osvoboditel,The King Liberator, given this name because his army helped liberate Bulgaria from Ottoman rule in 1878. The cathedral bears the name of the patron saint of the family of the Russian Tzar.
The magnificent church is built to the designs of the Russian architect Pomerantsev in Neo Byzantine style, typical for Russia in the the XIX th century.More

Boyana Church
