The pearl of the Bulgarian mountain resorts, Pamporovo is a ski-centre for all levels of skiers. Pamporovo has excellent ski runs including a racing run for giant slalom as well as a first class well developed lift system. Pamporovo has a mild but very snowy winter. The number of sunny days during the ski season from December to May averages 120 days so visitors should bring their sun screen. |
Pamporovo is located at an altitude of 1650 m above sea level amidst picturesque valleys and peaks of the Rhodopa Mountains, where according to the legend, Orpheus, the mythical singer, once lived.
The healthy year-round climate and non polluted land might be the reason for what appears to be a genetic miracle- Nearly all of Bulgaria's centenarians are found in this district.
The Rhodopa region is well known for its unique folklore traditions. A famous Phodopa folk song was copied onto a golden record and launched in a space satellite as a message to life in Cosmos.
